The essential feature of this design is that compliant gripping structure is very short (less
than 100 microns) and the entire force circuit is contained there. The outer load beams will
push on the gripper beams when the tweezer closes, and close the gripper. If there are any
out-of-plane forces , they will not be transmitted efficiently by the load beams since they
are free to slip. The result is precision gripping tips that will very acurately meet each other
in space so that small objects can be gripped. The width of the gripper beams is 2 microns.
